With this book your students can learn about the history, geography, culture, music and instruments of Trinidad. It contains fun facts, activities and a play-along CD with two versions (slow/fast) of every musical arrangement as well as a wonderful story told by the inventor of the steelpan, Ellie Mannette. The tunes can be played on steeldrums, or any other C instrument (piano, bells, xylophone, recorder or flute). There is also a Panorama Project that combines all of the information, activities, art and music into a concert program that the students perform. This book is an excellent starterkit for a steelband program or, for schools that don’t yet have steeldrums.
